Abstract
The German economist. Max Weber, employed bureaucracy to mean a rafional system of administration. He was followed by other social philosophers who described it as a system, which increased the likelihood of alienation fi-om work. The modem authors employ this term in a wide variety of theories. To quote Martin Albrow: "It has linked with the growth of territory occupations, with the differentiation of social functions, with the alienation of man from work, with the growth of oligarchy and with a general process of rationalization. It has been an element in many more restricted theories about rules, hierarchy, communications, participation, and decision making in a wide variety of organization .
