Effects of Online News Applications for Android– A
Critical Analysis

A mobile news application, most commonly referred to as a news app, is a type of news
application software that run on a mobile phone, such as a smart phone, tablet and I pad. Mobile
news applications available on android phones frequently serve to provide users to news related
to breaking news, entertainment news and other various genres. Android Apps are generally
small in size, individual software units with limited function. This use of software has been
popularized by Google play store, which sells thousands of applications for the smart phones.
The purpose of this research paper is to find that using android news application that are
available on android phone and easily available on Google play store at free of cost are good or
bad for the mobile users. People are using this mobile application for gaining current updates,
breaking news and other purposes. But the question is that these apps are really useful for the
users. For this research paper we are using focus interview method of 50 research scholars to
know that are these apps are really helpful for them or not.

include the HTC Desire, the Samsung Galaxy, and the Sony Xperia. The Android operating
system is run on the Linux kernel. Android is open source software, meaning developers can
change and customize the OS for every phone.
The different Android-based phones have different graphical user interfaces GUIs. Android
phones come with various in-built applications and also support third-party programs. People can
easily download the news apps from Google play store. Some news apps available on Google
play store are UC news, Google news, BBC news, Viral News. These are most common news
applications downloaded by millions of users. These news apps have both advantage and
disadvantage.
Advantages of Android News Applications –
1. News applications are mobile medium that users can use it anywhere anytime at free of
cost. Users have internet facility on his/her mobile phones.
2. News apps are paperless and you don't need to handle the paper and don't need to
give any money for it.
3. Users can get up to date information related to social, political, economical, cultural,
and religious and leisure’s.
4. It save the money and time, just you have click on app and you will get all the
information.
5. You can search any day news in just one click and saves your time to find the news
easily.
6. It's a simplest process to read and access news.
7. You can carry your phone anywhere so whenever you want you can keep updated
yourself
8. News apps are small in size and easy to download.
9. You can send your area news to the application manager.
10. If you want to edit or any views related to apps, you can contact directly to the
administrator.
Disadvantages of Android News application –
1. If you read news online its effect on your eyes and health.
2. Some rumors news effect on your health.
3. Most of the news is fake on news apps.
4. It also includes half porn content that attract users.
5. News is from different sources, it’s not easy to believe on this news.
6. If you use these apps continuously it is dangerous for your health.
7. It also has fake photographs and videos that are easily available on news apps.
8. It creates negative environment.

9. Bulk of news are available that are rumors and negative.

The Past studies in this field of online news applications have shown that there are 9 socio- technical advantages that have determined the adoption and use of online news:

Why Avoiding the News application makes you smarter and intelligent
Desensitization – The news related to your community and region creates an anxiety in you that
make feel you uncomfortable. It is like a phobia that comes in your mind that something is
wrong with you and family.
Sensitization – After reading the news on news applications make you hyper sensitive that
create negative environment in your surroundings.
Hypofrontality- Both desensitization and sensitization causes bad effect on your brain, whereby
the activity of the frontal lobes of the brain decreases. So if you avoiding reading news on news
apps make feel you better in life.

For this research paper we are using focus group method. Focus group is a form of qualitative
research consisting of interviews in which a group of people are asked about their ideas, views,
